ARE WE MEANT TO BE EMPTY HANDED?
I KNOW I COULD BE BETTER!
JAYDEN

The room had been quiet for hours... not that Jayden minded at all. In fact, he found quite a bit of solace at being able to just lay down on his rock hard mattress and stare at the ceiling. His Absol had wandered off down the corridors to Arceus knew where, and so Jay was for once, truly alone with his thoughts.
Of course, to be left alone with a mind like his probably wasn't any good for him. The young man found himself thinking about the previous night's events. A groan escaped his lips at the thought of his drunkard father stumbling around on his guard shifts. A former war general famous for his accomplishments on the battlefield, now reduced to a fat old guy destroying his liver one drink at a time. Jay's face contorted into a look of disgust at the thought, and he barely muttered, "What a disgusting idiot Zane is. He doesn't even deserve to be called our father."
Of course, to him, everyone was an idiot, including the only other kin he had on this blasted ship: his sister, Kiba Darkhart. A frilly, little, delicate thing she was, easily battered around by the wills of others simply so she could please them and have them think highly of her. All she had to do was stand there and look pretty, or at least that was what Jay thought that was all she needed to do. Did she also have to torture everyone with her obnoxious voice? He growled lowly, shaking his head once to rid himself of any more thoughts about his pathetic family.
"Just let your mind go blank," he grumbled, turning over to his side. The door was in plain sight, left a crack open in case his stupid Absol wanted to come back here, though he had his doubts that the Disaster Pokemon would be showing up any time soon. A stray thought entered his head: wouldn't is roommates be getting here soon? He hadn't met them yet, nor was he looking forward to it... he just hoped he'd be able to stand them enough to not have to spend his nights sleeping in the bathtubs for another term.
The soft pattering sound of footsteps reached his ears a moment later. So, Absol was coming back? It only took a few seconds to confirm that it was indeed his Pokemon... though this brought a strand of wariness to the Darkhart: Absol only appeared if something chaotic was about to happen.
I better brace myself for whatever comes next...
