xx EATEN BY THE DARKNESS

She pecked, right on the face, just beneath his right eye. The pain wasn't excruciating but you know... It still hurts to be pecked by an ominous looking crow. Oh wait, that was just Avis. Her glowing red eyes were looking at him with disappointment, as though it was his fault for falling asleep, as though it was his responsibility to stay awake the whole night. Oh wait, it sort of was. He was a guard, a lowly little guard, standing by the waiting bay, and was going to stay there until the next shift arrived. All he had for company was the dark-hued bird perched upon his right shoulder, a Murkrow whom he called Avis. He looked at her with a mild curious expression, getting a cold gaze in return from her, her claws seemingly gripping at him harder as he did. He casually averted his golden eyes away, but couldn't help but smirk at the Murkrow, eyes blinking softly, watching the empty room. Oh, this was normal. Oh so very normal for them. He was thankful that this time she wasn't cawing at his hear, screeching at him to actually pay attention, as what his job called for. Guarding an empty room was much like watching a television, when it isn't switched on. One couldn't help but let their attention slip, fade away, and basically fall into boredom. That's where Avis's attitude came in, she'd snap at him, as though she wasn't feeling too bored herself, call his attention and possibly give him a new wound to nurse. Ah, such was their life. Such was the cycle of the late night shift. Avis might not look like the largest threat on the station but... She had her own ways. But he liked her for it. She was focused, much unlike he, the one who actually reminded him to do this and that, to bring along certain things, and leave a few behind. She was often quickly pissed at him, for forgetting about duties, but was also rather quick to forgive of petty matters such as those. He chuckled to himself as she glared at him still, keeping his eyes away from hers to survey the area. Lights were on as usual, windows open and showing the twinkling stars outside, along with the casual floating asteroid, the floor could use some cleaning but that wasn't his job, and that was it, nothing unusual. So what the hell was he guarding? Absolutely nothing. That was the whole cause of boredom, wasn't it. Nothing particularly happening. He stifled a yawn, casting a mocking worried glance and grin at Avis, before moving over to the chairs. "I can go over and sit, right?" He said to the bird, whom replied with a soft, purr-like, sound, her body nestled on his shoulder, feathers brushing at his cheek. He smirked at her and sat himself on the chair, arms folded over his chest. [img src=""word""] |
